Overview The post-doctoral research fellow will execute research projects under the supervision of a principal investigator, focusing on developing skills to transition the trainee from mentored research to independent research. Research topics include image-guided radiation therapy for head and neck cancers, MRI sequence development for radiation therapy applications, computational approaches to improve treatment planning in image-guided radiation therapy, and integration of novel research developments with clinical applications. The fellow will assist the principal investigator with mentoring junior lab members and leading collaborative projects between the research team, clinical staff, and industry partners.

Learning Objectives

Perform technical laboratory duties, and techniques, in vivo, in silico, and in vitro experiments studying head and neck cancer and response to treatments including immunotherapy and/or radiotherapy.

Projects may include generating imaging files, image segmentation, image processing, dosimetric analyses, machine learning, toxicity assessment, clinical data review, and/or dental science components.

Familiarity with anatomy, statistics, medical physics, computational science and/or related fields is preferred. Ideal candidates would possess experience in informatics, models of human cancer.

Training and supervising other research personnel on techniques and equipment procedures.

Maintenance of laboratory safety procedures and records and facilities.

Collect, analyze, and plot data using appropriate software applications, store and record data on computer and lab notebooks.

Assist in writing scientific papers for publication, grant applications, and presentations at scientific meetings.

Other duties as assigned. All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

Eligibility Requirements Education

Required: MD, PhD or equivalent doctorate

Experience

Required: Experience in scientific or experimental research work during doctoral degree

Preferred: With preferred degree, two or more years of required experience

Position Information MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from 64,000 to 76,000 dollars depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
