This position is a temporary assignment to teach Culinary Arts at Philomath High School starting January 5, 2026. Applicants must have a working knowledge of the Family and Consumer Sciences Common Core State Standards and be willing to meet the needs of all students. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in FACS content, proven classroom management and instructional strategies, and positive teacher–student interpersonal relationships. Qualifications
Oregon Certification with a Culinary Arts endorsement as determined by Oregon Teacher Standards & Practices Commission. Must meet Highly Qualified standards. Responsibilities
Plan and present a program of study that meets the individual needs of students in any Culinary Arts course of study. Be competent in teaching to the Common Core State Standards for Culinary Arts. Instruct with an emphasis on hands-on learning methods and relevancy for Culinary Arts application in everyday life. Provide a classroom environment conducive to learning, stressing responsibility and skill development. Assess, prescribe and evaluate student performance based on objective-centered instruction through data analysis and student learning growth goals. Assess classroom work samples according to Oregon state assessment guidelines. Work collaboratively with staff. Adhere to state, district, and school policies. Communicate with parents and the community on a regular basis. Be a strong student advocate and foster positive relationships with students. Be competent with instructional technology skills. Work on school and district curriculum committees. Carry out other assignments as designated by the principal. Contract
0.5 FTE, 108-day contract (in response to the approved District calendar). Temporary assignment starting January 5, 2026 through the end of the 2025-26 school year. Salary and benefits per the Licensed negotiated agreement. Equal Opportunity Employer
