What you’ll do The Department of Performing Arts at Ventura College seeks an accomplished costume/makeup designer and educator for a part-time faculty position. Due to the College\'s proximity to the Los Angeles metropolitan area, a successful candidate will have an established design portfolio of professional credentials in the stage, film, and television industries.
The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the craft and art of costume/makeup design, demonstrate strong leadership, and be able to recruit and mentor our diverse and often marginalized student population. Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non-Contract/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds to facilitate the attainment of academic or vocational objectives. In accordance with Education Code sections 87482.5, Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment.
Where you’ll work Ventura College was established in 1925 and serves a large student population. The campus is located approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara, offering a near-coastal setting with views toward the Channel Islands.

Representative Duties
Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or design courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking through assignments and activities in multiple instructional settings.
Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services as appropriate.
Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback in class, online, or during office hours.
Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes; align with department, college, and district goals.
Maintain records of enrollment, attendance, progress, curriculum, and outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports as required.
Evaluate and select instructional materials; order materials to ensure timely delivery.
Revise and update course content in light of new theory, application, and industry developments.
Update syllabi; collaborate with discipline faculty on assessment of student performance indicators.
May participate in curriculum development, committees, articulation, matriculation activities, and provide work direction to others as assigned.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in the California Community Colleges handbook.
Master\'s or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance OR Bachelor\'s or Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance AND Master\'s in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature or humanities; OR the equivalent; OR possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential. All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university. If your degree title is not an exact match, you may review equivalency processes described in the posted materials.
Equivalency processes and related documentation are available through the district. Foreign transcripts evaluations may be required if coursework was completed outside the United States.
