Job Summary This job is responsible for performing a full range of security activities designed to protect persons, property, and equipment from volatile individuals, unauthorized access, or hazards by patrolling in or around the assigned Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) hospital campuses and ambulatory clinics. The incumbent patrols assigned buildings or property on foot or vehicle and is alert to violations of security regulations, suspicious activities, unauthorized persons, and safety hazards that may cause injury or property damage. Responsibilities Providing protection of property and mitigating criminal activity through visible deterrents; conducting proactive patrols of VMFH buildings, parking structures, and grounds. Providing customer service to patients, employees, and visitors. Interfacing with law enforcement regarding criminal activities. Completing all required documentation accurately and timely; participating in ongoing security training. May screen, subdue, and/or restrain individuals posing potential harm, using conflict resolution skills to de-escalate situations, involving management as necessary. Qualifications Six months of related experience in security, healthcare, or law enforcement/military. Valid Washington State Driver's License with a clean five-year driving record. Must be at least 21 years old. Licensure/Certification Possession of a valid Washington State driver’s license. International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification within 6 months of hire. Completion of organizational-sponsored training (handcuff, pepper spray, control shield, BLS) within 60 days of hire, with recertification every two years. Work Environment This is an unarmed position requiring shift and weekend work, involving significant standing or walking, and physical activities to respond to emergent situations.
