Provide educational experience, positive motivation, and guidance to students in a manner consistent with the mission of Carl Sandburg College. FACALH56100 Faculty Exempt, Bargaining Unit Dean of Nursing Professions Principal Working Relationship: Dean of Nursing Professions, Students, Staff, Program Faculty, Colleagues in Clinical Agencies. Major Responsibilities / Assists With / Risk Management

Primary Responsibilities:

Meet with assigned class(es) at all scheduled times and locations, and provide instruction necessary for fulfilling course objectives. Notify Dean or appropriate administrator in the event a class meeting is cancelled, changed, or when it is necessary to be absent from campus during hours of regularly scheduled responsibilities. Prepare and distribute to the students and Dean or appropriate administrator a course syllabus that is consistent with the official course brief for each class and sufficiently detailed to inform students about policies concerning attendance, evaluation, and expected performance. Provide students with appropriate educational, vocational, and social counseling to motivate their educational progress. Refer to appropriate resources for further counseling and advising. Collaborate with Academic Support Services to develop and implement strategies for student access and participation in provided services. Enforce college regulations concerning student behavior and building regulations. Submit all required information such as attendance, midterm, and final grades by the requested deadline. Keep laboratory and/or instructional equipment secure; recommend repairs or replacements when necessary. Maintain student attendance records and employ a well-defined procedure for evaluating student progress according to program policies. Participate in program, class, and course assessments to improve student outcomes. Participate in curriculum evaluations and propose modifications as needed. Engage in student recruitment and enrollment growth initiatives. Spend a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week on campus to fulfill professional obligations, including classes, preparation, and other responsibilities like conferences and follow-ups. Use the Learning Management System to record attendance, grades, and document course syllabi for each semester/session. Attend departmental, committee, and college meetings regularly. Follow guidelines of any negotiated faculty labor contract. Perform other duties as assigned. Assist With:

Textbook and learning resource selection. Curriculum evaluation and modification. Budget preparation for supplies, materials, and equipment. Preparation of class schedules. Risk Management and Loss Prevention Activities:

Support the college's Risk Management Program appropriately. Monitor conditions during student instruction to prevent potential injuries or torts, communicating observations to supervisors or the Risk Management Committee. Understand and operate emergency procedures and phone systems. Follow personal protection guidelines to minimize occupational exposure to blood or OPIM. Minimum Necessary Skills, Experience, and Educational Background

Minimum Necessary Education, Skills, and Experience:

Master’s Degree in Nursing with required on-the-job experience as per the Illinois Nurse Practice Act. Current licensure with the appropriate agency. Effective communication skills with diverse student and client populations. Knowledge of the instructional program. Maintain professional licensure in Illinois. Experience with lab skills and simulation preferred. Proficiency in Spanish or French preferred. Physical Requirements to Perform Job Functions

Physical effort includes sitting, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs; ability to request assistance for heavier items. Motor skills and sensory perception necessary for effective instruction depend on the content and methods used. How to apply
