Chiaravalle Montessori is looking for a dynamic, motivated, Long Term Elementary Substitute Teacher to fill a maternity leave Associate Teacher position for grades 4th - 6th. This person will work collaboratively with the Lead Classroom Teacher and the entire Upper Elementary team to implement the school's curriculum consistent with the Montessori Method and principles. The Long Term Elementary Substitute Teacher position is a temporary position tentatively starting December 15, 2026 until approximately March 20, 2026, the first week being for training (please note school is closed for Winter Break December 22, 2025 - January 2, 2026). The position is scheduled onsite Monday - Friday from 8am - 4pm.
THE POSITION The Long Term Elementary Substitute Teacher will utilize best practices in the classroom based on current research in child development and education which are appropriate to the learning objectives for upper elementary (grades 4th-6th). The person in this position will work to provide individualized and differentiated learning plans in order to meet the cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual growth of each child. You will support students by implementing strategies and accommodations geared towards the individual child. The Long Term Elementary Substitute Teacher provides students with timely, clear and constructive feedback. You will be responsible for working and communicating with other teachers, Learning Resources, and Administrators and providing support for each student's individual progress.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field or Elementary Montessori Certification.
You must have a minimum of 2 years relevant teaching experience in a school setting, preferably Montessori.
Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication, organization skills are preferred.
This person must be adaptable to different situations, communication and social styles.
Patience, the ability to stay calm and maintain respectful and peaceful communication with children and adults is also essential.
