Description
This is a full-time academic position in the practice and teaching of pediatric neurology to medical students, residents, and allied health professionals. Examples of Duties
Teaching Mentor pediatric neurology residents rotating on child neurology. Provide outpatient experience for MS III's and MS IV's in pediatric neurology. Present lectures, seminars, conferences, and rounds for residents and students. Present one Pediatric Grand Rounds per year. Present lectures at local and regional departmental meetings. Evaluate student and resident performance. Provide one student seminar during each six-week pediatric clerkship. Service Demonstrate commitment to the mission and behavioral standards of SIU School of Medicine, providing excellent service through collaboration, compassion, respect, integrity, accountability, diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Develop and maintain a professional practice in accordance with department policy and the SIU HealthCare practice plan. Establish a pediatric neurology outpatient clinic for at least 6 half days per week at various sites including Springfield, Decatur, Quincy, and others. Provide ER consultations and inpatient care at St. John's Children's Hospital and Memorial Medical Center. Read EEGs at multiple hospitals in Illinois. Develop Telemedicine clinics in Decatur, IL, and other regional centers to serve children with neurological disorders. Qualifications
Sensitivity to the needs of underrepresented minority populations. MD or equivalent degree. Board eligible for Certification in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Eligible for licensure in Illinois. Demonstrated potential, interest, and/or ability in teaching, service, and/or research.
