Junior Groomer at Petco
Overview Join Petco, a leading pet wellness company, and start your career as a Junior Groomer. In this role, you will learn essential grooming skills in a ten‑week training program and contribute to excellent pet care services.
Responsibilities
Perform limited grooming services—bath, dry, nail trim, brush, ear clean, gland clean—under supervision of experienced groomers.
Maintain a clean, safe grooming salon and sanitize tools and equipment.
Interact professionally with pet parents, provide optimal customer service, and resolve inquiries.
Schedule appointments, manage paperwork, maintain accurate records.
Learn and adhere to Petco grooming policies, standards, and guidelines.
Qualifications
0–1 year of animal‑related experience (shelter volunteering, pet sitting, salon assistance preferred).
High‑school diploma or GED preferred.
Passion for animals and desire to pursue a pet grooming career.
Basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior, and grooming practices.
Empathy, animal handling skills, and effective communication.
Availability for weekends, evenings, holidays as required.
Training Program
Weeks 1‑3: On‑the‑job training—behavior, safety, check‑in/out, customer service, grooming policies, bathing & drying.
Weeks 3‑10: Perform bathing & walk‑in services while achieving productivity goals.
