Position Purpose We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced EHS Specialist (Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist) to join our team at our Reidsville facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local US regulations. This position requires a strong, practical understanding of US EHS laws and the ability to champion a strong safety culture across the site.
Requirements
Must be willing to work mandatory overtime, weekends and different shifts as needed.
Must be available to answer emergency calls.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or a related technical field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive experience as an EHS professional, preferably in a Manufacturing or industrial environment.
Regulatory Expertise (Mandatory): Solid and demonstrable knowledge and practical understanding of US federal EHS regulations (OSHA and EPA) and applicable state/local EHS laws in North Carolina.
Strong knowledge of ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards.
Technical Skills: Hands‑on experience with incident investigation, EHS auditing, environmental permit management, and LOTO programs.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively train personnel and interface with regulatory agencies.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications/Certifications:
OSHA Outreach Trainer certification
CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) Certification.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure absolute compliance with all United States Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, particularly those issued by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).
Stay abreast of regulatory changes and quickly implement necessary adjustments to internal programs and procedures.
Manage the preparation and timely submission of all required regulatory reports.
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS Standard Operating Procedures, hazard control programs, and emergency response plans.
Oversee key programs such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication (HazCom), PPE usage.
Manage waste disposal, pollution control, and other environmental programs.
Perform regular EHS facility inspections and audits to identify and mitigate physical and environmental hazards.
Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for new and existing processes and equipment.
Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and injuries, utilizing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies.
Monitor EHS data and develop effective corrective and preventive action plans.
Design, schedule, and deliver mandatory EHS training programs for all levels of employees, ensuring everyone understands safe work practices and compliance requirements.
Maintain accurate and complete training records.
