Site Directors lead dynamic summer camps for K–8th grade, serving as site General Managers and the public face of Galileo Learning. The role opens and operates a Camp Galileo location, under the direction of a Field Program Manager, serving campers and their families within the community. Location: Venice/Mar Vista, Los Angeles, CA. This is a seasonal role running February–September 2026, with the exact dates varying by hire date and camp operations. Responsibilities

Infuse camp with joy, tradition, and creativity; build an inclusive environment where every camper, staff member, and family feels seen, supported, and inspired. Own every aspect of the camp’s launch and operations—from preseason planning to end-of-summer wrap-up. Oversee daily operations, parent communication, program delivery, and overall camp quality. Ensure camper safety and foster family trust; anticipate needs, adapt quickly, and problem-solve to keep camp running smoothly. Train and mentor a staff of 10–40; set expectations for instructional and program standards, provide ongoing feedback, and handle staffing, scheduling, and payroll responsibilities. Model creativity and innovation using the Galileo Innovation Approach (GIA); encourage curiosity and turn challenges into opportunities while maintaining mission alignment. Build strong partnerships: serve as the primary face of camp, communicate proactively with families, facilities partners, HQ support teams, and community partners; collaborate with the Field Program Manager and staff. Location & Work Schedule

Phase One: Training & Prep (Feb–June/July): up to 15 hours/week, mostly flexible/remote with some in-person commitments; evenings/weekends may be required for events. Phase Two: On-Site (June–August): on-site hours typically 7:00 AM–6:00 PM (Mon–Fri), averaging 45+ hours/week for 5–8 weeks. Phase Three: Wrap-Up (Aug–Sept): up to 5 hours total, remote for final admin tasks and staff reviews. Compensation

(Year 1 estimate): Preseason (Feb–June): Hourly pay at $23/hour for flexible, part-time prep and training. Camp Season (June–Aug): Weekly salary of $1,450/week as a full-time, exempt Camp Director during summer operations. Postseason (Aug–Sept): Light part-time work at $23/hour. Bonus/Commission: Additional $1 per camper-week enrollment; potential commission for add-on weeks. Exact compensation may vary by geography and Galileo camp director tenure. 3+ years of experience in education/child development (K–8 preferred) or related coursework. 1+ year of team management/coaching or supervisory experience. Availability for part-time remote work starting Feb 2025, and on-site full-time work starting June 2025 (dates vary by location). Willingness to travel regionally for up to 3 in-person marketing events during the preseason. Flexibility to adapt and manage multiple priorities; ability to complete required state certifications before camp starts. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally lift and carry up to 30 lbs; frequently operate a computer; may sit for extended periods; ability to communicate in person and virtually.
