Andaz Miami Beach is now recruiting a Director of Food and Beverage to join the hotel’s team. An art‑deco building and architectural landmark is home to the newest luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Mid‑beach. The property boasts 287 guestrooms including 34 breathtaking suites and the ONLY Ocean‑view arrival experience in Miami Beach. The design features elements of texture, art, and pops of color that create a unique and captivating experience. Each suite is designed with floor‑to‑ceiling windows, most with deep‑soaking tubs, and cozy reading nooks. Guests can also enjoy private outdoor terraces with stunning views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline. Unmatched amenities include a full‑service spa, a well‑equipped fitness center, a destination dining experience by José Andrés, two pools, and a Beach Club catering to the who’s who of Miami. Spanning 25,000 square feet of innovative indoor and outdoor event space, Andaz Miami Beach will become a landing spot for guests and locals seeking celebratory gatherings that embrace the city’s culture of music, art, and fashion.

The Director of Food and Beverage will ensure the successful execution of all operations in the food & beverage division including but not limited to Restaurants/Bars, Room Service, Banquets/Catering, Beach/Pool Operations and managing staff. This role strives to continually improve guest and colleague satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of the division. This position leads the F&B team to ensure all standards are followed while meeting or exceeding property goals.

Develops a food and beverage operating strategy that is aligned with Andaz Miami Beach business strategy and leads its execution.

Ensures that regular, on‑going communication occurs in all areas of food and beverage. Examples include pre‑meal briefings, staff meetings, and holiday preparation.

Works with direct reports to review business levels and potential business in surrounding area and troubleshoot potential challenges/conflicts.

Reviews schedules to ensure that guest service and operational needs are met.

Sets expectations and holds food and beverage leadership team accountable for demonstrating financial profitability and service behaviors.

Provides feedback to colleagues based on observation of service behaviors as per Forbes Standards.

Forecasts food, liquor, wine and other beverage consumption in order to anticipate amounts to purchase or requisition to maximize profitability.

Orders and oversees purchasing plan for china, glass and flatware.

Reviews financial reports and statements to determine how division is performing against budget and forecast. Makes key decisions to maximize profitability.

Encourages calculated risk‑taking to generate incremental revenue and delivery of service.

Creates an atmosphere in all food and beverage areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations.

Participates in the management of departmental controllable expense to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.

Understands the impact of Food & Beverage Operations on the overall property financial goals and objectives.

Responsible for overall financial performance of the food & beverage division including budgeting, forecasting and financial planning of the department.

Responsible for colleague engagement, development, coaching, training and hiring.

Ability to effectively keep team accountable and conduct coaching and counseling for employees to reflect Hyatt’s and by extension Forbes service standards and procedures.

Ensure consistency with departmental opening and closing procedures.

Manage vendor contracts (i.e. liquor distributors, food providers, Ecolab etc.).

Manages and maintains F&B checkbook to ensure appropriate profitability is maximized.

Bachelor’s Degree is in Tourism Management or related degree preferred.

Five (5) plus years’ experience in food & beverage within a luxury or lifestyle hotel.

Forbes Four or Five Star senior leadership experience.

Ability to establish and maintain exceptional guest experience based on Forbes Service Standards.

Knowledge and experience with driving positive guest experience and achieving service metrics.

Resort experience is preferred.

Requires strong communications skills, both verbal and written.

Strong understanding of food & beverage division operations.

Strong understanding of Cost per Cover, Food and Liquor Costs.

Excellent understanding of food & beverage division P&L and can develop department heads financial acumen.

Previous experience with food & beverage management systems including: Medallia, POS, Envision, Birchstreet and Micros.

Must be extremely detail oriented with excellent organizational and communications skills and time management with ability to organize and/or participate in regular communications meetings.

Possess proven leadership skills in accountability and recognition.

Strong leadership skills with focus on cultivating relationships with both external and internal guests.
