FY26: Teacher, Science Grade 7, Forest Oak MS, 1.0 FTE Summary description: Under the direction of the middle school principal, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students. Works with interdisciplinary teams to foster a school culture that supports the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of adolescents to ensure success for every student. Supervises middle school students in a variety of school-related settings. Communicates and collaborates with middle school students, staff, parents, and community. Develops, selects, and differentiates instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all middle school students. Maintains appropriate records, follows required procedures and practices, and uses data analysis to monitor student achievement. Monitors the use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Physical demands: as required by the duties and responsibilities of the job. Special requirements: required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Job Specific Information

The Grade 7 Investigations in Life Sciences teacher fosters curiosity and scientific literacy in a Title I community school through hands-on, project-based learning aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards. Students explore cells, matter and energy in organisms, genetics, evolution, and ecosystems while building problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

National Board Certification (NBCT) is preferred but not required.

The wage range for this position is a salary between $64,591 and $131,472 based on education and experience.

Education, Training, Experience

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university with knowledge of adolescent learners.

Meets Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
