Euclid Hospital’s 8th floor Med/Surg and Telemetry Unit is a 31-bed unit that specializes in advanced telemetry. The unit has an average daily census of 25 and is comprised of 7 private rooms, 10 semi-private rooms and a 4-bed observation room for patients who may be confused, at risk for falls or in need of visual monitoring. Caregivers in this unit provide patient-centered and relationship-based care to adult to geriatric patients with a range of medical-surgical diagnoses. A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am–7:30pm. Responsibilities
Provide direction and support to the unit staff and supervise admissions, assess patient needs, and initiate nursing care plans. Evaluate and document patient progress. Facilitate the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives, and objectives for the unit. Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in the unit. Serve as a liaison between the manager, staff, and other areas within the organization. Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in the unit. Prepare work assignments to assure adequate coverage. Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies, and research initiatives. Participate in department and committees as assigned. Assist in orienting new personnel and in continuing education and in-service educational programs. Minimum Qualifications
Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills. Good oral, written and interpersonal skills; strong analytical and organizational skills. Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA). Two years of recent clinical nurse experience. Physical Requirements
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment
