Responsibilities

Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. Develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and a shared passion for gaming. Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, maintain a clean, organized environment, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business. Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using POS system, including giving correct changes, receipts, and packaging with top-notch service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations program, trade-in program, Pro Rewards). Assist with setting guest service expectations for store associates and train them in policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with guest service expectations. Provide timely recognition and feedback to store associates; document feedback in Workday / HR service management system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening or closing shifts; associates should know policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety practices, financial protocol, and ethical responsibilities. Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, manage breaks/meals, and maintain optimal staffing for guest service. Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ship daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices; conduct safety checks and communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties. Perform store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits as required. Verify shipments for discrepancies; record discrepancies in POS and communicate with Store/ District Manager. Process defectives/ recalls and stock pulls with accurate labeling and packing lists. Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; report injuries promptly per guidelines. Assist in maintaining store records/files and ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening and closing procedures. Qualifications

Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Demonstrate clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change. Work independently and within a team to perform tasks promptly. Meet performance expectations including attendance, personal appearance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) system; basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork properly and follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Execute financial tasks in accordance with company policy. Possess a flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Remain reliable, trustworthy, and able to work under pressure with composure. Able to work alone; stand/move for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs as required.
