Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 2525) at GameStop. The role supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations and supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, and promote loyalty programs.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system; ensure correct changes, provide receipts, and maintain high guest service standards.
Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed.
Promote GameStop benefits such as reservation programs, trade-in, and Pro Rewards loyalty.
Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies and guidelines.
Provide feedback to the Store Manager on associate performance and address issues as directed.
Ensure onboarding and training are completed for all associates before opening/closing shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics.
Schedule store associates to meet staffing guidelines; supervise to maintain optimal guest service levels.
Approve payroll, manage time off, and verify time worked for associates.
Maintain store cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and functioning fixtures/equipment.
Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.
Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as appropriate and communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
Conduct store inventory counts and restock merchandise; ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor.
Balance daily transactions in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and manage cash/ deposits according to guidelines.
Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and report discrepancies to the Store Manager or District Manager.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; label boxes accurately with packing lists.
Maintain associate and guest safety; address hazardous situations and report injuries per guidelines.
Maintain store records/files and ensure manuals are up to date.
Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Adhere to GameStop policies and the Associate Handbook; follow opening/closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.
Key Skills
Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills; provide genuine assistance to every guest.
Clear verbal and written communication; English proficiency; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently or as part of a team.
Reliable, trustworthy with good judgment; able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week).
Ability to operate POS system and perform basic math; complete required paperwork properly.
Ability to stand, move, and lift up to 30 lbs; ability to reach and bend as needed.
