Postdoctoral Fellow – Psychology – UNSW Union of New South Wales is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research on mental health interventions for Australian Defence Force personnel. The role combines rigorous controlled trials with advanced statistical analysis and dissemination of findings to both academic and defence audiences.

About the Role

Fixed term – 2 years

Full time (35 hours per week)

Salary $113k – $121k plus 17% superannuation, annual leave loading

Reports to Scientia Professor Richard Bryant

No direct reports

Specific Responsibilities

Design and conduct intervention studies on mental health with Defence Force personnel.

Perform literature reviews of mental health interventions for common disorders in defence populations.

Undertake defined research projects under the guidance of a research leader.

Prepare manuscripts for peer‑review publication, including statistical reporting and literature synthesis.

Present findings at conferences, workshops and defence audiences as required.

Adhere to UNSW Code of Conduct, Values, health and safety policies and ensure no adverse impact on yourself or others.

Qualifications

A PhD in psychology or a related discipline; relevant experience in mental health research.

Demonstrated experience with sophisticated statistical analyses.

Strong literature synthesis abilities and experience in peer‑review literature.

Experience working in a research management role and keeping up to date with discipline developments.

Track record of high quality academic research, publications and conference presentations.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Understanding and commitment to UNSW aims, objectives and values in action.

Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to health and safety training.
