The purpose of this position is to assist in managing the company's outstanding Self Pay receivables and customer satisfaction related to billing for health services provided. Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, required 2+ years experience in a provider setting (inpatient or outpatient), required Knowledge of all payors insurance; self-pay after insurance, reimbursements, collections, appeals, claims follow-up, and third-party billing, required Experience with medical records or patient accounting systems, required Knowledge and understanding of state and Federal payment laws, required Knowledge of healthcare ‘explanation of benefits' (EOBs), required Experience with a 10-key adding machine, required Fluency in English; written and oral communication skills required; Spanish proficiency preferred Essential Job Functions
Manage all patient phone calls into the Central Billing Office (CBO) Follow up on patient voicemails within 24 hours Resolve patient inquiries and involve team members/supervisors as needed Develop payment plans as necessary Explain billing process, EOB interpretation, and benefits to patients; contact payers for clarification if needed Maintain accurate outstanding patient balances and report accounts receivable Verify benefits and ensure claims are processed correctly using online/telephonic resources Submit refund requests when necessary Assist with special projects as assigned Document all call activity within patient accounts Other Job Functions
Achieve goals related to accuracy and productivity (e.g., days in AR, cash collections) Attend staff and mandated meetings Perform additional duties as assigned Work overtime as needed Additional Details
