Inclusion Teacher
Reports to Principal
Position Summary The Inclusion Teacher facilitates student learning to help each child achieve intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. The teacher manages the learning environment and ensures students engage in meaningful educational experiences aligned with school objectives.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership
Maintain accurate records in accordance with NLCS and state requirements
Uphold professional ethics and appropriate appearance
Foster positive and professional relationships with staff and students
Ensure a well-organized, disciplined classroom environment
Demonstrate mastery of subject content
Adhere to all schedules and reporting expectations
Deliver instruction with enthusiasm, clarity, and poise
Monitor and support student behavior and classroom activities
Respect and support diversity in student backgrounds and needs
Implement differentiated instruction to support all learners
Protect and manage school property and instructional materials
Maintain inventory of classroom resources and equipment
Build strong relationships with parents and the community
Refer students for attendance, health, or emotional concerns as needed
Actively contribute to RtI teams, committees, and co-curricular activities
Attend school and district meetings, workshops, and professional development
Coordinate and schedule IEP meetings annually or as needed
Provide "IEP at a Glance" documentation to staff
Planning and Professional Growth
Engage in ongoing professional learning and development
Create clear, standards-based lesson plans with measurable goals
Submit lesson plans on time and begin/end lessons as scheduled
Collaborate with Title I and other instructional support programs
Differentiate instruction based on student abilities and needs
Help evaluate and select instructional materials and textbooks
Complete required bi-annual caseload reporting
Student Support and Development
Write and implement effective Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Guide and counsel students to promote academic and emotional growth
Maintain consistent, clear communication with parents
Deliver clear, developmentally appropriate instructions
Provide positive reinforcement for desirable behavior
Address inappropriate behavior consistently and professionally
Create engaging activities aligned with learning goals
Use questioning strategies to check for understanding
Promote active student participation
Regularly assess and monitor student progress
Assign meaningful homework and give timely feedback
Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records
Serve as a role model for responsible, ethical citizenship
Teach and encourage ethical behavior and democratic values
Qualifications Education
Valid Indiana Teaching Certification appropriate for special education
Skills
Exceptional oral and written communication
Demonstrated commitment to supporting diverse learners
Strong instructional design and classroom management skills
In-depth knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards
Familiarity with IIEP system and special education documentation
Skilled in creating and managing IEPs
Experience
Evidence of leadership in teaching or related roles
Proven ability to set goals, prioritize tasks, and work collaboratively
Experience in results-oriented instructional environments
