Virginia Beach, VA (remote work possible in case of inclement weather) Essential Duties
Provide academic advising, mentoring and support for all accepted and enrolled students. Provide preliminary and comprehensive academic advising regarding transfer credits, course selection, and course requirements to all prospective and active status students. Inform, review and process academic forms (e.g., academic petitions, online add/drop, readmission, withdrawal) in accordance to University policy and procedures and within Key Performance Indicator (KPI) requirements. Provide pre-degree clearance audits and conduct final degree clearance advising in all policies and procedures concerning graduation requirements, commencement, and commissioning. Liaison with Registrar's office when conducting credit and transcript research. Educate, engage, and empower students regarding academic programs, advising services, student services, and university resources. Monitor students' academic progress including admission status, advising holds, and academic standing. Attend and provide service for University events. Participate in training and instruction within the Academic Advising department, as well as training and instruction provided by other university offices and departments to ensure knowledge of and compliance with University policies. Thorough reading, research, and participation in professional development opportunities, develop a deep understanding of issues and needs confronting students, and assist in the development of effective ways to address those issues and needs. Develop and/or present workshops or seminars to enhance and support student success. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 60 college-level credits required. Prior experience in college level academic advising strongly preferred. Proven track record of excellent customer service. Experience in process management and problem solving. Appropriate competency and ability to be trained in technology including Customer Relation Management (CRM) systems, Microsoft Suite, Canvas, Cognos, Degree Works, and phone systems with the ability to multi-task within these systems. Ability to type an average of 40 WPM. Ability to work 40 hours within defined hours of operation: Monday – Friday 9 am – 6 pm EST. Candidates Must Have
