Responsibilities
Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations.
Develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming.
Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, provide a clean and organized environment, and grow guest loyalty.
Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly, inform guests of promotions, and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system and provide top-notch guest service.
Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed.
Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards programs.
Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for store associates and training staff in company policies and guidelines.
Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance in alignment with company expectations.
Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; input written feedback into Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
Ensure onboarding and training for associates prior to opening or closing shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics.
Schedule store associates and manage staffing to ensure optimal guest service and adherence to guidelines.
Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify compensation for time worked.
Ensure store areas are clean, organized, and merchandised per guidelines and that fixtures and equipment are in working order.
Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and maintain daily shipment duties.
Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete administrative duties.
Conduct store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and maintain organized stock levels on the floor.
Balance daily transactions and ensure closeout paperwork and bank deposits are accurate; maintain sufficient cash for transactions.
Verify shipments, record discrepancies, and conduct inventories; communicate discrepancies to management.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists.
Maintain safety awareness and report injuries per guidelines.
Maintain neat store records/files and ensure manuals are up to date.
Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent.
Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Follow opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.
Key Skills and Abilities
Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills.
Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest.
Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
Work independently and as part of a team; meet performance and attendance expectations.
Respectful workplace, safe practices, and compliance with policies.
Operate the POS system and perform basic math and alphabetizing.
Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week).
Ability to work alone and stand/move for long periods; lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.

Compensation: $14.75 - $18.75
