We deliver secure, high-quality language support in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.
We are seeking Akan Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Akan, which includes Twi and Fante dialects, is a major West African language spoken primarily in Ghana and among diaspora communities, and is often required in asylum, refugee, and immigration proceedings.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Akan (Twi/Fante) English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
Interpret accurately, impartially, and with cultural sensitivity in immigration and legal contexts.
Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Akan (Twi and/or Fante) and English.
2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, medical, or government preferred).
Strong understanding of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and neutrality.
Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
Compensation & Benefits
