Respond to dispatched calls for service and assist in responding to security, fire, medical and weather-related emergencies, or natural disasters. Perform self-initiated activities such as crime prevention, traffic control and parking enforcement. Provide assistance as requested within the department’s capability (e.g., battery jump starts, using of telephone, assisting emergency personnel). Patrol campus property to maintain a safe and secure campus environment. Enforce College parking and traffic regulations. Conduct visual surveys while on patrol for potentially dangerous or unsafe areas and conditions; inspect fire prevention equipment; perform fire inspections for hazardous materials or conditions; make on-the-spot corrections or report conditions for correction. Must be proficient in the use and maintenance of firearms, defensive tactics, and personal protection equipment. Certified (or able to become certified) in CPR/AED and First Aid. Perform emergency notifications to employees, students, and visitors via the OTC Alert System and other means. Prepare and submit comprehensive reports as required. Perform on-call duties, carry the on-call phone and respond in a timely manner. Brief the subsequent shift regarding incidents or special events. Support the Safety and Security Department by serving as a dispatcher or Officer in Charge for the day as needed. Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, attending professional development courses, and training as required by the department. Adhere to the Safety and Security Department Standard Operating Procedures and comply with college policies and procedures. Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality. Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions and community events. Non-Essential Job Duties
Remain competent and current through ongoing professional development as required by the College Director of Safety and Security. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years of employment as a Safety and Security Officer at an accredited institution of higher learning; or three years as a Law Enforcement Officer or Fire Marshal with a public agency; or three years military service as a Military Law Enforcement Officer with honorable discharge. Successful completion of a recognized law enforcement training academy, military law enforcement school, or qualification under LESOA (HR218). Proficiency in the use and maintenance of firearms, defensive tactics, and personal protection equipment. Ability to communicate effectively via radio and other channels in a calm, clear, concise, and professional manner. Certified or able to become certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. Ability to work varied shifts including weekdays, weekends, nights and holidays; on-call as needed. Possess a valid Missouri Class E driver’s license or CDL with a good driving record. Ability to travel between OTC locations as needed for assignments. Maintain a professional appearance and work without direct supervision. Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds; ability to pull, drag, or carry persons from danger. Ability to identify license plates, vehicle colors, and other information from distance. Strong oral and written communication skills and time management skills. Proficiency with information technology tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution. Missouri POST Class A certification from a recognized law enforcement academy. Five years of employment as a Law Enforcement Officer or Fire Marshal with a public agency; or five years of military service as a Military Law Enforcement Officer with honorable discharge. Experience with Colleague software and working in a collegiate setting. Physical Demands and Working Environment

The employee regularly sits, stands, and walks; uses hands for handling and typing; communicates verbally; and operates a computer. Primary functions require the ability to carry up to 50 pounds, and to pull, drag, or carry individuals from danger. Specific vision abilities include close vision.
