Overview
The SCALE Senior Research Associate at the Stanford Graduate School of Education (GSE) in Stanford, California, United States, will work in the Generative AI in Education Hub. What You’ll Do
The Senior Research Associate will work closely with the Faculty Lead, Director of Research, and Director of the Hub. They will lead key research projects, require independent work as well as collaboration with the education policy initiative team, lead data collection and analysis efforts, develop research designs, manage research staff, and contribute to writing and proofreading academic papers, reports, presentations, grant proposals, and reports. Core duties include:
Lead research projects including data collection, research design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
Oversee, coach, and mentor research staff.
Manage research processes including data use agreements, IRB documents, contracts, memoranda of understanding, and the appropriate receipt, storage and destruction of restricted data.
Contribute to additional research projects within the initiative.
Disseminate research, engage stakeholders, and produce tools to facilitate use of findings.
Represent the entity or program to the broader university, external community, and other stakeholders.
Assist Principal Investigator in defining objectives and timelines, and manage changes in scope.
Develop outreach strategy related to program communications, development, partnerships, and fundraising/funding; identify external funding opportunities and write proposals.
Contribute to strategic planning for the program.
What You’ll Bring
Education & Experience Advanced degree in education, policy, economics, sociology, psychology, or a related field and five years of relevant experience in education or social policy research. PhD, 2-3 years of research experience post-PhD, and experience working in research-practice partnerships preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills.
Quantitative methods skills including experimental and quasi-experimental approaches.
Data analysis skills.
Ability to productively and positively manage research staff.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Ability to manage research projects including producing grant proposals.
Desired Qualifications
Econometrics, data science, and/or psychometric skills.
Experience in Stata and/or R and Python to analyze data.
Strong interest in education research.
Experience writing academic research papers.
Experience writing research briefs for a broad audience.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

The expected pay range for this position is $115,000-$130,000.
