$22.50/hr - $31.50/hr Performs duties relating to the cutting, preparation, display, and selling of meat products. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. All positions must be performed in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Further, Team Members must be prepared and able to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions. All positions must strive to support WFM core values and goals, promote national, regional, and store programs and initiatives, and ensure adherence to all applicable health and safety regulations including Food Safety and regulatory duties required in the department. Job Responsibilities
Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry). Prepares specialty meat merchandise (i.e., sausage, oven ready products, and cured meats). Checks product to meet WFM quality standards. Maintains sampling program. Monitors and assists in preventing spoilage. Mentors and supports assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s). Arrives on time, dressed appropriately, and ready to work; attends all scheduled shifts, trainings, and meetings. Provides excellent customer service, addresses customer needs promptly, and models suggestive selling techniques. Maximizes sales through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising. Follows procedures related to weights, measures, health, sanitation, and safety standards. Maintains a clean and sanitary environment and equipment. Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensures accurate signage and pricing. Reports safety hazards and violations immediately. Performs other duties as assigned by leadership. Job Skills
Understanding of Meat team processes and procedures. Excellent cutting skills and knowledge of meat and seafood cuts and techniques. Ability to assess product quality and freshness visually. Ability to communicate market conditions to customers. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to deliver clear and respectful information to team members, customers, and vendors. Customer service excellence. Ability to follow directions, manage time effectively, and organize tasks. Passion for natural foods and Whole Foods Market's mission. 14+ months retail experience. Completion of WFM Butcher Apprentice Program or equivalent training. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to lift 50 pounds. Stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday. Use of hands for grasping, manipulation, pushing, and pulling. Perform bending, twisting, squatting, reaching. Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures. Work in wet and cold environments. Handle knives and cutting equipment safely. Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
