Do you like talking about and tasting Burgundy? Do you know one Conterno from the other? Your Kabinett from your Trockenbeerenauslese? We're hiring — Join the Compline Wine Shop team! Our 1,800-ft shop features a cellar-temperature selection of 1,000 wines from all over the globe. A separate tasting bar in the front of the shop provides a "tasting room" experience for guests. Like any winery-owned tasting room in downtown Napa, we offer the opportunity to taste a flight of wines—but they aren\u2019t part of a single brand, and they could be from anywhere in the world. The Tasting Bar Sommelier role is primarily responsible for pouring these tasting flights in a fun, informative manner, while promoting the sales of monthly wine clubs and retail purchases in the shop. This is a great position for someone with hospitality experience, who wants to continue learning about the world of wine, talk about more than one winery, and join the team at Napa\'s premier retail destination. Additional retail duties include stocking shelves, checking in wines, and help with keeping the shop in clean and shipshape condition. Responsibilities
Pour tasting flights in a fun, informative manner, while promoting the sales of monthly wine clubs and retail purchases in the shop. Help set up and execute regular events at the shop. Stock shelves, check in wines, and help keep the shop in clean and shipshape condition. Contribute to guest hospitality and wine knowledge conversations. Qualifications
Great sense of hospitality and guest engagement Solid foundation of world wine knowledge Experience in wine service in a hospitality/restaurant setting Minimum 2 year experience in hospitality, including restaurant service and/or winery tasting room Recent wine education - WSET level 3, CMS Certified, or similar Ability to lift at least 40 lbs regularly Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe programs Desire to create positive guest experiences Drive to sell wine Great handwriting is a plus! Music taste that doesn\'t suck Compensation and Schedule
Compensation ranges from $21-24/hour depending on experience, plus tips and regular bonuses for wine club signups. This is a full-time position for 32-40 hours a week. Afternoon/evening availability from Wed-Sun is essential.
