Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate that commitment by circulating throughout the store. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/return transactions using the POS system; handle transactions with correct changes, packaging, receipts, and top-notch guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly, courteously, and professionally, escalating issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards loyalty program). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training associates in company policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide feedback, address unsatisfactory performance, and ensure alignment with company and store guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to associates, and document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. With the Store Manager, ensure associates complete onboarding and required training prior to opening/closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethical responsibilities. Schedule store associates to meet guidelines; supervise staffing to maintain excellent guest service; ensure compliance with scheduling requirements and breaks. Approve payroll, manage time off and edits, and verify accurate compensation for hours worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect company assets via inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at store closing or end of shift as appropriate; report concerns to the Store Manager. Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete administrative duties. Perform inventory counts and restock merchandise; ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits as required. Verify shipments for discrepancies and conduct inventories; report discrepancies to Store Manager/District Manager. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; ensure proper labeling and packing lists. Maintain safety awareness; address hazards; report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records and ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening and closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Key Skills and Abilities
Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest during every visit. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; English required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Able to perform in a fast-paced, changing environment. Work independently and as part of a team to perform tasks timely. Meet performance expectations including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) system. Basic arithmetic and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork properly; follow instructions; execute financial tasks in accordance with policy. Flexible schedule including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Stay reliable, trustworthy, and use good judgment. Able to work alone; stand and move for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs; reach and navigate store space.
