The Residential Relief Staff for the Safe House Programs is an On-Call position where work hours and schedule are assigned subject to availability and current staffing needs. The Residential Relief Staff performs the essential functions described below and is supervised by the Program Manager. Responsibilities

Ensure up-keep of the facility to meet program and licensing standards. Report unmet conditions to the Program Manager. Ensure completeness of resident files and program files. Maintain consistency in program rules and procedures; meet ongoing resident needs. Transport residents to and from school, work, appointments, and outings as assigned. Participate in informal group sessions with residents. Implement and monitor the chore system for residents. Provide backup support during emergencies, which may include safe restraint procedures. Assist in planning and implementing group recreational activities and outings. Complete required daily reports/consultations for each resident. Monitor phones, visitors, workers, parents, and handle emergencies and crisis calls. Conduct intake/discharge orientation and check resident safety after discharge. Serve as a crisis counselor on duty, by phone or in person with youth and/or parents. Model professional behavior, including communication, decision making, problem solving, discipline, organization, cleanliness, and respect for property and others. Maintain all required documentation relating to residents. Represent the agency in the community and participate in public information campaigns as needed. Attend meetings, workshops, trainings, and other scheduled events. Grocery shopping and menu planning for the Safe House; supervise residents in meal preparation. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

High school graduate. At least one year of experience working with troubled or at-risk youth. Valid Hawaii Driver's License. Valid TB clearance. Pre-employment medical clearances. Valid First Aid and CPR certification. DHS FBI/Criminal History & CAN background clearances and Salvation Army background clearances. MVR records check and ability to meet Authorized Driving standards of the Salvation Army. Skills, Mental & Physical Demands

Good judgment, dependability, initiative, firmness, caring, organization, and ability to work under stress and change. Work under stressful conditions; interact with others with courtesy and tact; relate to youth, parents, agency workers, police, school personnel, etc. Work within an interdisciplinary team; participate in staff training and growth groups. Manage and prioritize multiple projects; respond to crisis situations calmly; complete projects on schedule; maintain confidentiality. Maintain regular and punctual work attendance; flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed. Physical: ability to sit, stand, and perform light to moderate physical activity; driving required; ability to lift 25-50 pounds (occasional more); safe restraints when necessary. Communication: ability to talk with co-workers, clients, vendors; written and verbal communication; reading; use of latest technologies; ability to communicate with people of different cultures/ethnicities. Work Environment & Notes

The position is indoors at Family Intervention Services; attendance at trainings in Hawaii or on the mainland may be required.
