Lawrence Doors, Inc., a leader in the commercial door industry, and a part of Amarr / ASSA ABLOY Group (the global leader in opening solutions), is seeking a crewman (commercial door installer / door repair technician apprentice) to work at our Anaheim Branch. Must be dependable, mechanical, able to read dimensions and use a tape measure. Responsibilities
Assisting Foreman with commercial door installations and repairs by checking truck and materials, loading tools, equipment, ladders, and materials. Ensuring safe backing out of driveways, coning off work areas and driveways as needed, and ensuring a safe environment prior to beginning installation or repairs. Handling paperwork as needed, including obtaining customer signatures and confirming the correct location prior to installation. Using hoists, scissor lifts, and forklifts as required. Keeping the truck clean and cabinets organized. Writing up repair work orders and assisting foreman with obtaining customer signatures. Working safely by coning off work areas and inspecting ladders before use. Assisting foreman with installations and repairs while learning to operate your own truck. Leaving the work area swept and cleaner than you found it. Identifying additional work by inspecting other doors on time and material jobs. Following safety policies including lockout/tagout and proper material handling. Maintaining a clean and organized shop. Reporting any needed repairs to power tools and service truck promptly. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 1–2 years of experience using hand and power tools. Experience using hoists or cranes to handle steel coils (training/certification a plus). Knowledge of 18- to 24-gauge sheet metal properties and safe handling practices. Experience with stick welding is required. Ability to read drawings and use basic measurement tools. Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, safety, and documentation. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods.
