Job Description

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Flexibly support student learning, primarily as an in-building Substitute Teacher, adapting to the needs of students as directed by the Principal. Cover classrooms for parental leave or extended absences, pull small groups for intervention, conduct classroom observations, and support school-wide procedures (lunch, arrival, dismissal). If a classroom teacher transitions during the school year, the substitute will move into the classroom as an interim teacher. Curriculum development and instruction: plan and use instructional strategies and materials that reflect understanding of individual students’ learning styles and needs. Commitment to school and classroom culture: work collaboratively with the school team, help develop a school-wide culture, attend staff meetings, communicate openly, develop positive rapport with students, and enforce school values and behavior policies. Family engagement: establish strong communication lines with families, be available for open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and events involving parents. Growth mindset: pursue challenging professional goals, participate in school-wide and individual professional development, and be open to feedback. Qualifications

Requirements Conferred Bachelor’s Degree Pass Criminal Background Check Desired Qualities Experience working with students (highly preferred) Commitment to working with students from educationally under-resourced communities (highly preferred) Experience and demonstrated success teaching students from under-resourced communities (highly preferred) At least two years of teaching experience (preferred) Passionate about data-driven instruction Unwavering commitment to KIPP Nashville’s mission, core values, students, families, and community Belief in affirming the identity of students, families and staff Excitement in growing students into their highest selves and in providing excellent education as a lever for racial equity Collaborative and proactive problem-solving attitude with diverse stakeholders Commitment to ongoing professional development Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary is $46,800; for those with certified teaching experience, salary starts at $55,070 Robust benefits package (medical, dental, vision, disability, supplemental insurance, life insurance). Benefits eligibility begins upon employment; policy effective the first of the month following the first day of work. Retirement: Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS) with employee contribution 5% and employer match up to 6%; 401k option with 5% employer contribution. Vacation: 29 paid days over a 10-month schedule, plus 6 PTO days and an incremental 2 days after every 2 years. Unused PTO may be paid at year-end. Adoption/Parental caregiver leave: up to 10 weeks for primary caregiver and 2 weeks for secondary caregiver at 100% pay. Work tools: laptop with internet and email access. Master Teacher Program: after two years, eligibility for a $5,000 stipend and $2,000 toward professional development. Apply
