Main Duties & Responsibilities
Processes and manages referral requests through Erie’s electronic health record (EHR), verifying patient’s financial status, and verifies appropriate internal and external referral resources according to Erie’s referral guidelines.
Ensures all needed information is in the referral through Erie’s EHR including patient diagnosis and reason for referral; communicates with providers if any clinical information is missing.
Verifies patient insurance prior to processing referral using payor platforms.
Processes referral with the correct hospital contact information and scheduling instructions.
Sends referrals via Fax or Care Everywhere Referral Management (CERM) to the hospital partner for care coordination.
Qualifications
Experience:
1 year of experience in healthcare/medical office or equivalent is a plus.
Skills And Knowledge – Required:
Basic computer skills; excellent customer service skills; ability to work independently and within a team; cultural competency to work with a diverse patient population.
Skills And Knowledge – Preferred:
Proficiency in medical office Spanish; intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office; intermediate EPIC skills.
Physical & Hybrid Role Requirements
May be required to talk to and listen to patients, clients, or internal customers for extended periods.
May be required to work on a computer for extended periods.
Hybrid Role Requirements:
Strong Internet connection, minimum 75 Mbps when working from home; must adhere to hybrid work schedule and guidelines; may be required to come on site at any time; must always meet performance expectations.
