General Summary
A Teacher Assistant, under the guidance of the Center Supervisor and assigned teachers, supports group instruction and children's activities by preparing materials, supervising playtime, serving meals, and aiding in nap routines.They are responsible for leading assigned indoor and outdoor activities with minimal supervision while fostering a nurturing environment that promotes the social, intellectual, physical, and emotional development of children. Key responsibilities also include ensuring the safety and supervision of children,maintaining classroom cleanliness and order, and assisting with documentation of attendance and children's progress. The Teacher Assistant collaborates with teachers on lesson plans, facilitates educational activities, and oversees the classroom in the teacher's absence. Additionally, participation in staff meetings and workshops, along with adherence to a professional appearance, is expected to support the effective execution of the MAOF Child Care &Development Program.
Requirements
Minimum six (6) semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development. Minimum one (1) year experience in working with preschool children. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Must have a positive attitude with a desire to work with and promote the welfare of children and their families. Sensitive to the needs of the program and the children. Sensitivity and the ability to work well with diverse ethnic, religious and cultural groups. Maintain confidentiality. Regular attendance,Monday through Friday, according to schedule provided by the site supervisor. Must be able to read, write and communicate. Must submit to a flu vaccine once a year or provide waiver. Must provide vaccination records for influenza (optional), pertussis (Tdap), and measles (MMR), at the time of employment.
