This is a standard nine-month faculty, non-tenure track appointment. Responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester, serving on committees, participating in departmental decision-making, and performing other departmental, college, and university service. Subject areas include Colonial America, American Revolution, Civil War. The position reports to the Department Chair, History, Social Sciences, Philosophy. Qualifications
Required Education and/or Work Experience:
Ph.D. or ABD in History from an accredited institution of higher education. A master’s in history with a PhD in a closely related field would be considered. Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:
Prior teaching experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Classroom and online instruction Assess and evaluate student learning Maintain a positive work atmosphere by fostering teamwork and providing leadership Require consistent on-time attendance Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Current knowledge of the relevant discipline; good organizational skills; ability to respond to diverse learners; ability to deliver outcomes through various teaching/learning styles; ability to use technology effectively in teaching; strong written and oral communication; ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students and colleagues. Current knowledge of the relevant discipline Good organizational skills and timeliness in responding to student inquiries Ability to respond to needs of learners from diverse backgrounds Ability to deliver course outcomes through diverse teaching styles Ability to use technology effectively in teaching Strong communication skills Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships Additional Information
