Overview
This recruitment is for multiple positions in the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) in the Colorado Springs area. This position will be filled for that area and open to Colorado residents. The role involves working in the community in the field to supervise inmates/parolees and support re-entry efforts, with duties that may include after-hours work and on-call availability. Responsibilities
Conduct field work (e.g., pre-release plan investigations, home visitation, job verification, parole violation investigations) including after hours to contact inmates/parolees at their residence of record. Apply evidence-based assessment, case planning, and supervision techniques under policy and standards of practice. Direct assessment and supervision plans for community-based parolees; update the Colorado Transition Accountability Plan (CTAP) with conditions and goals. Monitor parolee compliance and progress in employment, treatment, restitution, residential status, and other program components; escort to activities as needed. Use motivational interviewing and coaching to reinforce pro-social behavior and assist parolees in resolving problems and achieving goals. Provide crisis intervention and counseling to address interpersonal, familial, and financial issues to support parolee success and public safety. Investigate non-compliant behavior and impose sanctions consistent with the Colorado Violation Decision Making Process, most cases managed in the community. Present case information for evidentiary hearings and serve as hearing officer for COPDs in compliance with due process standards. Attend training to develop skills in supervision techniques, assessment, and cognitive behavioral interventions. Maintain proficiency in essential procedures and safety protocols (firearms, arrest control, CPR, first aid) and use-of-force policies. Be on-call or on-call back on a 24/7 basis as required. Pursuant to Colorado law, function as a PEACE Officer and may make arrests and transport parolees. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, or a combination of coursework and professional experience in criminal justice, corrections, social work, or counseling totaling four years. Applicants must possess and maintain a current Colorado POST (Peace Officer Standards Training) certification at the time of application and upload a copy of the POST certificate. Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and have no felony convictions or domestic violence history. A valid driver’s license must be maintained throughout employment. Presence of POST is mandatory and there is no substitution for POST certification. Necessary Special Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid, unrestricted Colorado driver’s license; no felony convictions or domestic violence history. POST certification required at time of application; no substitutions. Ability to pass a background investigation and all modules of the CDOC Basic Training, including defensive tactics and related physical requirements. Must be willing to work in environments involving high-risk or high-need populations and to travel and work various shifts as needed. TB screening required for all new employees. Ability to stay alert, emotionally stable, and resilient; organize and prioritize work; strong communication and decision-making skills. Experience with state parole or community supervision, case planning, and evidence-based practices; MI (Motivational Interviewing) experience is a plus. Knowledge of law enforcement, corrections, parole, probation operations, or related case management; experience with community supervision as an alternative to incarceration. Experience working with hard-to-serve, high-need, or high-risk clients and in correctional or community supervision settings. Conditions of Employment
