Jefferson County Public Health is seeking an Epidemiologist I or II. The Epidemiologist provides mixed methods data collection and analysis, program monitoring and evaluation and epidemiological services in support of public health programs, community health assessment and public health surveillance. This position is responsible for collecting and managing surveillance data and developing databases, data automation and linkages; performing data analysis, interpretation, and evaluation; and presenting information that describes public health programs and the health status of populations or communities within a specified region. The Epidemiologist develops project specific and core indicator infographics and dashboards. The position may require coordination and collaboration with partners and organizations across the Kitsap, Jefferson, and Clallam County region. Education and/or Experience: Epidemiologist I: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or other related coursework;

AND, two (2) years of experience working in public health assessment or a closely related health field that demonstrates competency;

OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates competencies to complete the typical duties of this position. Epidemiologist II: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or other related coursework;

AND, two (2) years of experience working as an Epidemiologist I;

OR

four (4) years of experience working in public health assessment or a closely related health field that demonstrates competency;

OR, and equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates competencies to complete the typical duties of this position. A Master’s Degree in evaluation, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a closely allied field (with course work in evaluation, epidemiology and/or biostatistics) may replace two (2) years of experience. Experience with Power BI and a programming language such as R or Python preferred. Epidemiologist I, Grade 33, starting pay typically $34.44/hr. Full hourly range $34.44-$41.12/hr, DOE. Epidemiologist II, Grade 35, starting pay typically $37.08/hr. Full hourly range $37.08-$44.28/hr, DOE. 40 hrs/week, full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. 12 paid holidays, PTO, and bereavement leave. Other: Hybrid position with 2-3 days/week working in office.
