As a Structural Engineer Co-Op, this individual will work and assist the Structural Engineers with designing steel structures and completing related projects as needed and directed. 1st shift Monday – Friday Business Hours Shift Differential:
1st shift – N/A Responsibilities
Design the essential structural elements for traffic poles and light poles while adhering to customer specifications and optimizing the design per company standards Read and interpret transportation project plans and identify products that match company capabilities Design, test and optimize ancillary products related to transportation poles Support structural engineers in day-to-day tasks and problem resolution Role Qualifications
Civil or Mechanical Engineering majors Strong understanding of material properties, welding, threaded fasteners and stress analysis High attention to detail in calculations and decision making Experience using standard test and measurement equipment, particularly LabVIEW Strong understanding of engineering concepts and ability to apply to real world problems Experience with SolidWorks for design and documentation Ability to read and interpret manufacturing prints Ability to handle simultaneous and challenging tasks Strong PC skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Willingness to work hands-on in a test environment Ability to listen to others, analyze inputs, and appropriately act on information provided Exposure to paint, welding, fabrication, and machine shop process or system desired Benefits
