Overview
Shift: Monday through Friday 8am - 4:30pm. 100% Onsite - Carlsbad, CA.
Responsible for performing a variety of work functions related to equipment and/or electronics repair, preventative maintenance, and calibration processes in a medical device manufacturing continuous production operation. Troubleshoots and repairs equipment to minimize operation downtime while ensuring adherence to production/process specifications. Follows engineering drawings, work order information, Manufacturing Assembly Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other written and verbal specifications in the manufacturing process. Installs, modifies, moves, troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, and dismantles machinery and equipment according to established documentation (e.g., SOPs), layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches, or other drawings. Performs the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies. Assembles mechanical units, fabricated parts/components and/or electrical/electronic systems to make sub-assemblies, assemblies or complete units using hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, and miscellaneous equipment. Performs timely calibrations and ensures that proper documentation of calibration and maintenance records are prepared and maintained in the Mpulse Software System. Follows Good Manufacturing Practice protocols. Manages vendors (internal and external) regarding calibration and/or repair activities.
Key Responsibilities
Repair, calibrate, and maintain all production equipment and process related equipment in the Thick Film Substrate Value Stream
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to reduce equipment downtime and repair
Actively manage equipment life cycles to sustainably solve equipment problems
Provide manufacturing support for assembly of medical device consumables in a controlled environment
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance/calibrations as scheduled in a timely manner with adherence to good record keeping
Coordinate and maintain calibration activities, including internal and external calibrations
Revise and edit maintenance procedures, calibration procedures, and work instructions based on the original equipment manufacturer’s recommendations and in accordance with the established Quality System and Good Manufacturing Practices
Interact heavily with Production Operators on equipment issues in order to develop in depth understanding of the Operators' needs
Work collaboratively with Production Operators to develop solutions which adapt to their needs
Manifest a sense of urgency and a culture which minimizes equipment downtime
Execute projects in accordance with cost and schedule constraints, and update project planning documents with regular cadence
Create project plans for equipment upgrades
Manage internal and external vendors
Assist vendors in the installation of new manufacturing equipment as necessary
Complete assigned projects and tasks in an accurate and timely manner
Collaborate with Engineering to troubleshoot and/or improve manufacturing processes
Work independently with minimal technical supervision
May perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers
Performs other technical and production duties as needed
Advance Electro-Mechanical troubleshooting skills; able to work on ladder logic diagram, and programming
Requirements Competencies
2-4 years\' experience in supporting production in the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment
Proven strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills are required
Proficient in reading and verifying electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics/drawings
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Production Operators to deeply and insightfully understand their needs
Have good written and oral communication skills and an ability to work under minimal supervision
Sense of urgency
Ability to work overtime and weekends if needed
Education
Associates degree in related field
IT
Proficient with project planning tools such as MS Project
Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Proficient with JMP statistical analysis Software preferred
VBA and Macro development knowledge preferred
Language
Must be able to read, write and fluently communicate in English
Excellent written and oral communication skills
