We are currently seeking an
Assembly Technician
for a contract role supporting one of our clients in the government and defense sector. This is a
hands-on mechanical/electrical assembly role , not a testing position. The ideal candidate has soldering experience, mechanical aptitude, and can step directly into production with minimal ramp-up time. You\'ll join a collaborative, fast-paced team of technicians building precision components for mission-critical systems. Responsibilities
Assemble mechanical and electrical components according to work instructions. Perform
soldering
on electrical assemblies per spec (J-STD-001 preferred). Operate hand tools, power tools, torque drivers, and calibrated equipment. Perform rework or repair for units that do not meet spec. Follow
ESD guidelines
to protect components from damage. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to improve processes. Maintain clean, organized workstations and follow safety protocols. Move materials and subassemblies as needed throughout the production floor. Log time accurately using
ShopFloor Insight
or similar job timekeeping software (preferred). Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required. 2+ years of prior assembly experience
(mechanical/electrical). Soldering experience required ; J-STD-001 certification strongly preferred. Mechanical aptitude and experience with torque tools. Proficient with data entry and basic Excel skills. Familiarity with job timekeeping systems ( ShopFloor Insight
a plus). Ability to read and follow work instructions and drawings with precision. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Must be able to lift up to
40 lbs
and sit or stand for extended periods. Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work is performed in a clean, organized, temperature-controlled facility. Frequent use of hands, arms, and fine motor skills for assembly tasks. Requires sitting or standing for up to 50% of the time. Requires lifting boxes and materials up to
