Overview The Staff RN uses the nursing process to deliver nursing care to a given patient care population as it relates to the care setting. Nursing care is based on the interpretation and execution of the medical and nursing plan of treatment utilizing established procedures standards and protocols of individuals within the assigned work shift. The Staff RN provides nursing care to the population served in the unit.

Environmental Management Safety - Monitors and manipulates the physical environment to promote safety. (Excellence/Service)

Environmental Management: Worker Safety - Monitors and manipulates the worksets environment to promote safety and health of workers.

Increases surveillance of worksite to reduce risk of fires.

Latex Precautions - Reducing the risk of a systemic reaction to latex.

Malignant Hyperthermia Precautions - Prevents or reduces hyper metabolic responses to pharmacologic agents used during surgery.

Applies to pneumatic tourniquet, while minimizing the potential for patient injury from use of the device.

Prevents nosocomial infection in the operating room.

Assists the surgeon with operative procedures and care of the surgical patient.

Moves the patient or body part to promote surgical exposure while reducing the risk of discomfort and complications.

Minimizes the potential for iatrogenic injury to the patient related to a procedure.

Attains and or maintains body temperature within normal range.

Minimizes apprehension, dread, foreboding or uneasiness related to an unidentified source of anticipated danger.

Arranges to be with another during a time of need.

Provides comfort and communication through purposeful tactile contact.

Determines the effectiveness of a new products or equipment.

Ensures acquisition and maintenance of appropriate items for providing patient care.

Obtains, prepares, and preserves specimen for a laboratory test.

Physician support - Collaboration with physicians to provide quality patient care.

Collaborates with attending physicians and consultants to provide optimal quality patient care treatments.
