The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all transportation operations to ensure cost-effective, timely, and compliant movement of goods. This role manages third-party logistics (3PL) relationships, leads a team of Distribution Specialists/Coordinators, and ensures the effective use of Transportation Management Systems (TMS). The ideal candidate will bring over five years of experience in logistics and transportation, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, vendor management, and team leadership. Location:

Houston, TX - HQ Office Principal Duties

Manage daily transportation operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of goods. Lead and develop a team of Distribution Specialists/Coordinators, providing guidance, training, and performance management. Oversee contracts and relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure service quality and cost control. Define, validate, and qualify transportation logistics service provider protocols and performance standards. Approve expenses and monitor transportation metrics, expenses, and service levels to identify areas for improvement and cost savings. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and company policies. Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to track shipments, optimize routes, and manage carrier performance. Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Supply Chain, Customer Service, Warehouse) to align transportation strategies with business goals. Develop and implement transportation policies, procedures, and best practices. Analyze transportation data to forecast demand, manage capacity, and support strategic planning. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics operations, including 3PL management and freight optimization. Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and logistics software. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and negotiation skills. In-depth understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to manage budgets and control transportation costs. High attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strategic thinking with a continuous improvement mindset. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics management. Proven experience managing 3PL relationships and leading transportation teams. Experience with TMS platforms and data analysis tools. Certification in logistics or supply chain (e.g., CLTD, APICS, CSCMP) is a plus. Other Requirements

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Willingness to travel occasionally to vendor or distribution sites. Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support operations. Physical Requirements
