As a Medical Planner, you’ll function as a leader for assigned planning and design projects serving as the primary planning support but at times, serving as a primary contributor during client meetings and presentations. You’ll help others by participating in all aspects of healthcare programming, planning and design. These tasks will include development of space and functional programs, and feasibility studies through an understanding of the client’s objectives, analyzing site conditions, determining space needs and operational flows all the while balancing the constraints of budget, schedule and regulatory requirements. Throughout the process, constant collaboration with stakeholders and team members is critical for the project’s alignment with the Owner’s needs. Through the latter phases of the planning and design efforts, you will participate in peer reviews to oversee the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the project.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for initial facility and department planning, and programming of health facilities while working closely with Subject Matter Experts and client stakeholders.
Work with the Project Management teams and Subject Matter Experts through all phases of the project to ensure compliance to best practices in medical planning and health architecture.
Must be familiar with current trends in healthcare delivery, the impact of new concepts in medical planning and the impact of emerging technology in healthcare. Initiate feasibility plans with responsibility for the preparation of presentation drawings and narratives.
Participate in reviews of project documents related to the building design, construction and medical planning.
Represent the firm by participating in business development activities
Project assignments are within the California region but may extend beyond due to expertise and business needs.
What you’ll need
Bachelor or higher degree in Architecture,
10+ years’ experience in healthcare A/E/C industry.
Must have extensive knowledge and experience of healthcare architecture planning and design.
Must have extensive knowledge of building codes (particularly HCAI (Department of Health Access and Information)) and licensing requirements pertinent to healthcare buildings.
Must be capable of leading a healthcare team and making client presentations.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organization skills, with ability to oversee simultaneous projects in a fast paced environment.
Knowledge of the local and regional healthcare markets a plus.
Must be willing to travel.
