What you’ll be doing: Leading the Building Division with a focus on aligning operations with department and countywide goals. Overseeing permitting, plan reviews, and inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards. Supervising and mentoring a team of inspectors, plans examiners, technicians, and supervisors. Developing policies and performance standards that improve efficiency, safety, and customer service. Serving as the County’s go-to expert on building code interpretation and enforcement. Collaborating with internal teams, elected officials, and community partners to support shared initiatives. Staying ahead of trends in construction, sustainability, and regulations to guide future strategy. To move forward in the hiring process, candidates must meet the required minimum qualifications. That said, we encourage you to think about your unique background and skills before applying. Eight (8) years of experience in permitting, plan review, building inspection, code compliance, design and/or construction required. Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field required. A combination of education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Possession of a valid driver’s license by date of hire required. Possession of, or ability to obtain, ICC certifications as a Plans Examiner and a Building Inspector within one year required. Benefits
