Overview
Child Abuse and Neglect Pediatrician – SOM Wichita Pediatrics, Pediatrics-Child Abuse. This position blends a community feel and a tertiary care spectrum of diagnoses and acuity, robust pediatric resources, and traditional university-based academic opportunities in a clinical setting with a large geographic referral base. The inpatient consultation service has access to pediatric forensic nursing, social work support, and child life. The department serves as the primary teaching faculty in inpatient and outpatient pediatrics for residents and medical students. Clinical - 80% Provide direct patient care (inpatient and outpatient) for infants, children, and adolescents Provide consultation on inpatient infants, children, and adolescents in collaboration with hospitalists, critical care, and ambulatory teams Work with pediatric subspecialists to provide effective and integrated care Participate in quality improvement and patient safety activities to improve efficiency, safety, and clinical outcomes Scholarship, program development - 10% Lead scholarly projects (research, quality improvement, or clinical trials), mentor residents and other learners, and lead applications for external program funding and other grant support Collaborate with state agencies as part of the Medical Resource Center, including guiding CPS and training/mentoring pediatric providers across the state Serve on departmental and hospital committees and/or community partner multidisciplinary teams as requested Education - 10% Participate in curriculum development for residents and students on child abuse rotations or electives, ensuring ACGME and LCME standards Educate, supervise, and participate in the evaluation of residents, medical students, and allied health trainees Attend and participate in section, division, and departmental meetings Maintain board certification in pediatrics and child abuse pediatrics Qualifications
Required Qualifications Education MD/DO degree Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the state of Kansas Board eligible or certified in Child Abuse Pediatrics Note: The position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure foundational knowledge and skills for the duties of the role. Preferred Qualifications Work Experience At least 2 years of clinical experience and continuing education in child maltreatment, including a completed fellowship in child abuse pediatrics Experience teaching in an academic setting Skills Demonstrated proficiency in teaching students and residents Demonstrated proficiency in clinical practice Ability to work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team Required Documents
