System Engineer – Industrial Controls

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Provide industrial/commercial control systems engineering services for ISI customers, including SCADA Systems, PLC Programming, CAD Drawings, Industrial Networking, and Systems Calibration.

Support Instrument Technicians with issues related to field device interfacing, testing, and technical support.

Collaborate with other System Engineers to resolve project backlogs while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Support additional projects within the local service area and across the ISI footprint as needed.

Maintain detailed logs of job activities, service calls, parts, and orders.

Identify upgrade opportunities at customer facilities.

Travel to job sites using a company vehicle, practicing defensive driving.

Essential Mental Functions:

Strong background in electrical/electronic engineering, process instrumentation, and process engineering.

Self-motivated, driven, and capable of self-management.

High energy, technical competence, resourcefulness, and extreme attention to detail.

Proficient in Microsoft Visual Basic, AutoCAD, network understanding, and programming in multiple languages.

Familiarity with radio communications and protocols.

Knowledge of industrial and process controls, PID loops, instrument calibration, and repairs.

Understanding of analog current loops and their conversion in PLCs.

Strong electrical knowledge and familiarity with the National Electrical Code.

Experience with relevant equipment and tools.

*Note: On-the-job training will be provided for functions not initially possessed; willingness to learn and teach is required.

Essential Physical Functions/Equipment Used:

Ability to lift objects up to 75 lbs.

Ability to stand, kneel, walk, climb ladders, and stairs for extended periods.

Availability for occasional call-ins and overnight travel.

Work indoors and outdoors, exposed to weather, equipment, and various environmental conditions.

Willingness to travel nationally as needed.

Preferred Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (required); Master’s Degree preferred.

1-3+ years’ experience programming PLCs (required) and with computer-based HMI software (required).

Strong computer proficiency required, including operating electronic and microcomputer instruments.

Clean driving record required.
