You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside a broad array of scientists and engineers. The Microelectronics Designs and Applications (MDA) Business Area (BA) of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking motivated and experienced physicists and engineers to join our team of simulation and materials experts to aid in the design and layout of custom, low-power, low-temperature, RF, analog and mixed signal ASICs. Selected candidates will support Northrop Grumman’s Superconducting ASIC Design, Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) Foundry, Electromagnetic Simulations, and RF Packaging teams. Roles and Responsibilities include: Manage, enhance, and maintain high frequency simulation and Multiphysics software tools such as ANSYS, ADS, COMSOL, etc. Coordinate between different teams and programs to identify problems and provide solutions. Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and other team members to develop, document, and propagate best practices. Research novel simulation techniques and implement improvements to current simulation practices and tools. Perform model validation on simulations completed by other team members. This position requires work on site in Northrop Grumman Baltimore, MD area facilities. Sr. Staff EM Simulation Engineer Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or related STEM field, with 14 years of related professional history involving circuit design and simulation, master's degree with 12 years of experience, or PhD with 9+ years of experience. Mastery of Fabrication/Foundry 3D EM simulation and validation. Mastery of 3D Electromagnetic modeling background with commercial tools such as ANSYS (HFSS/Maxwell3D), COMSOL, etc. Proficiency with silicon manufacturing and testing processes. Proficiency with IC design flow including schematic capture, simulation, and layout. Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso or similar IC design software. Strong understanding of RF network, and resonator transmission line theory. Modeling validation experience. Parameter extraction experience. Resonant structure analysis. Able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph. US Citizenship is a requirement for this. Willing to work full-time on-site in Baltimore Maryland. Sr. Staff EM Simulation Engineer Preferred Qualifications: PhD in physics, electrical engineering, or related STEM field. An interest in superconductivity and Quantum technology. Have a solid understanding of materials and how they interact with RF. Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph.
