Role Summary Are you interested in exploring a career on the cutting edge of next generation circuit design? You'll leverage your current experience and join our team of scientists and engineers in design of integrated circuits for emerging applications in low temperature environments. You’ll work in a fast‑paced team environment alongside a broad array of scientists and engineers to make these design solutions a reality.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute your expertise in advanced design techniques and semiconductor manufacturing/testing.
Enhance task leadership and electromagnetic (EM) simulation skills.
Develop innovative circuits, design techniques, and best practices.
Learn systems‑level communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams.
Work closely with design leadership, product owners, fabrication, test, and theory teams to conduct comprehensive experiments and drive our aggressive research and development schedule.
All work is performed in a Linux environment using state‑of‑the‑art computer‑aided design tools.
Work Environment & Location This position requires work on site at Northrop Grumman’s Linthicum, MD area facilities.
Location & Travel Relocation assistance may be available. Travel is 10% of the time.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) degree with 12 years of experience in RF Analog, or Mixed Signal Circuit design (10 years with technical MS or 8 years with a PhD).
Expert level attention to detail and organization.
Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso or similar IC design software in Linux environment.
Subject‑matter expert knowledge of the IC design flow from specification through schematic capture, simulation, and layout.
Expert problem solving, analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in technical leadership role supporting team in meeting tight deadlines and milestones according to program schedule.
Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in simulation tool development, verification, and loop closure comparison to test results.
Ability to independently take concepts and derive action items to complete assigned tasks with minimal guidance.
Experience in mentoring junior designers.
Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance per customer’s requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with RF/microwave circuit design and proficiency with ADS suite of tools.
Microwave engineering background; understanding of s‑parameters and impedance matching techniques.
Proficient use of at least one of the following software tools for linear and nonlinear circuit characterization: ANSYS (HFSS/Maxwell3D), ADS (Momentum), COMSOL, etc.
2D and 3D Electromagnetic modeling experience with commercial tools such as ANSYS (HFSS/Maxwell3D), COMSOL, Momentum, etc.
Analog/RF, EMI/EMC PI signal integrity experience. Experience implementing filters and low‑noise techniques for noise‑critical blocks such as LNAs and mixers.
Programming experience with Cadence SKILL or Python.
Active U.S. Government security clearance.
Compensation & Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $163,200.00 - $244,800.00. Additional benefits include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company paid holidays, paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business, overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
