Santa Fe Springs, CA Job Summary: Richard Heath & Associates, Inc. (RHA) is seeking an Engineer III – Energy Efficiency to serve as a technical lead in the research, design, implementation, management, commissioning, and evaluation of energy efficiency projects and programs. Responsibilities: Perform complex analyses of energy efficiency measures using engineering principles, empirical data, or prior research. Conduct ASHRAE Level I/II energy audits, feasibility studies, and building energy analyses using modeling tools (DOE-2, eQuest, EnergyPlus, Trace, etc.). Lead commissioning and retro-commissioning efforts, from initial site assessments through implementation verification and reporting. Conduct functional performance testing, utilize BAS trend data, and deploy diagnostic tools/data loggers to optimize building system performance. Prepare commissioning documentation, verification reports, and corrective action plans. Essential Functions: Design and develop calculation tools, online platforms, and mobile apps according to program requirements. Develop and deliver technical training to RHA staff, clients, and external partners. Analyze, design, and support solutions for multiple energy efficiency and commissioning programs. Determine cost-effectiveness of measures and confirm incentive eligibility per regulatory requirements. Retrieve, compile, and validate program data; resolve discrepancies to ensure reporting accuracy. Prepare project documentation, including technical studies, project manuals, and business cases. Identify emerging energy efficiency and building automation technologies. Conduct energy savings studies and financial analyses to support prescriptive and custom program measures. Deliver presentations and represent RHA in industry forums, client engagements, and technical conferences. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience in energy efficiency, commissioning, retro-commissioning, or related energy engineering fields. Proficiency with CAD, Microsoft Office Suite, energy modeling tools, and BAS diagnostic platforms. Strong understanding of building systems: HVAC, BAS, refrigeration, lighting, motors, pumps, compressed air, and controls. Knowledge of building and energy codes (ASHRAE 90.1, Title 24, IECC, etc.). Strong project management and communication skills, including client engagement and report preparation. Excellent command of English (written and verbal).
