Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Experienced (Levels 2 or 3) System Engineers.
Position Responsibilities
Work with other industry partners in the development and execution of a comprehensive assessment program supporting the C2BMC Element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System
Evaluates systems under various scenarios and architectures to determine and/or optimize overall system mission performance in a framework giving insight into performance that may be employed by Missile Defense Agency and Warfighters
Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture
Develops and maintains analysis tools of varied fidelity including modeling and simulation tools to predict performance against evolving threats of current and future missile defense systems
Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes
Defines, schedules, assigns, and executes tasks, and monitors completion to lead the monitoring of integration and checkout activities, receiving and evaluating of results of activities, and approving/disapproving of each by determining whether results meet the checkout requirements, so that integration activities can proceed
Supporting the subject matter experts for integration and test domains, system engineering system performance/ domains, system-specific issues, processes, tools, and regulations
Support efforts to solve complex missile defense problems
Utilization of MBSE tools such as CAMEO or DOORS, System Architect and mathematical modeling and simulation to provide thought leadership and lead trade studies in assigned areas
Requirements and architecture development in support of MDS systems
Drive the system engineering integration and test or system analysis approach
Develop, select, tailor and deploy integration and test processes, tools and metrics
Execute and document integration and test activities and events
Develop, define efficiencies and improvements to tools to improve team productivity
Perform system analysis trade studies to define technical concepts and solutions
This position requires exposure to a broad range of personnel within MDA and its associated sub-elements
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.
This position may require the ability to obtain access to an MDA facility. Access to the facility requires a background investigation by U.S. government authorities.
This position requires candidate acceptance by the industry partner resource control board.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
(Level 2)
2+ years of work related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or work related engineering experience with a Master’s
(Level 3)
5+ years of work related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or 3+ years of work related engineering experience with a Master’s or work related engineering experience with a PhD
1+ years’ experience in system engineering (e.g. Systems, Design, Architecture, Integration, Requirements or Test)
Must have an understanding of System Engineering and iterative product development using Agile practices.
Experience using analytical, collaboration, communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Understanding of DoD and missile-defense command & control, battle management architectures, communications concepts, mission context, and common system test/data analysis techniques
Demonstrated experience with requirements verification and requirements analysis (including development and assessment of requirements traceability and verification artifacts)
Experience performing systems and performance analysis or trade studies (e.g., operational analysis, feasibility analysis, measures of effectiveness/technical performance, probability/discrimination analyses)
Experience modeling or simulating missile-defense or related engagement domains (air/space/ballistic and non‑ballistic intercepts, sub‑orbital mechanics) and using simulation environments for concept evaluation
Scripting/programming and automated-test/tool development experience (MATLAB, Python, Java or similar) to develop analytical tools, automated test harnesses, or numerical models
Typical Education & Experience Associate (Level 2)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
