About the Role Are you passionate about data systems, data governance, and educational equity? As a Data, Systems, & Reporting Specialist at TEP Charter School, you will manage our school's student information system (SIS), lead data analysis projects, ensure accurate reporting, and contribute to enrollment and grant processes. This full-time, on-site role is based in Washington Heights/Inwood (NYC). It is an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong communication skills, proven work experience in data analysis, data systems, or school operations, and the drive to contribute to organizational success.

This role is ideal for a candidate ready to oversee data architecture, maintain strong data quality frameworks, and apply modern data visualization, data analytics, and business intelligence practices to ensure accuracy and clarity. Candidates with experience as data specialists or those aspiring to grow into data governance analysts will find this role especially rewarding.

Responsibilities

Data Systems & Governance: Manage TEP’s student information system and ensure data integrity across all platforms

Data Governance & Compliance: Oversee data governance and compliance with federal, NYSED, NYC DOE and local reporting authorities

Data Analysis: Conduct advanced data analysis to refine academic assessment trackers, student achievement reports, and performance evaluation systems

Reporting & Dashboards: Build dashboards and reports using Excel, Google Sheets, SIS, and external software containing student performance data

Process Improvement: Apply workflow automation and process improvements to streamline operations

Data Integration: Support data integration efforts, maintaining consistency across multiple systems and ensuring reliable database management

Grants & Development: Research grant opportunities and write competitive applications

Grants Language Guide: Maintain TEP’s Grants Language Guide with consistent narratives, metrics, and key data assets

Grant Reporting: Submit timely, accurate grant reports supported by clear data analytics and outcomes

Compliance: Ensure compliance with all governance requirements for federal Title funding and additional sources of revenue

Special Projects: Support facility launches and program expansions (e.g., Pre-K)

Partnerships: Collaborate with community partners to align reporting needs and strengthen systems

Scope: Projects will vary and expand in scope as the individual gains greater insight into organizational needs

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in education, data systems, or organizational development

2–5+ years of professional experience with data systems, data analysis, or school operations

Strong proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets and comfort managing data modeling and reporting tasks

Experience creating data visualization dashboards with business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau, a plus

Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical data into clear insights

Preferred

Familiarity with data architecture concepts and database management

Experience supporting compliance reporting, grants, or school enrollment

Exposure to practices in organizational development, evaluation, and training activities

Knowledge of data governance analysts practices or related data specialist roles
