Position: Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs within Academic Affairs. Location: Tampa, Florida. Application ID: R0010018.
Position Details The University of Tampa seeks an Assistant Director to coordinate pre- and post-award activity, stimulate grant proposals, and manage post-award compliance and fiscal management. The role collaborates with faculty, university offices, the Office of Financial Management, and external government agencies.
Responsibilities
Stimulate faculty grant activity and assist in proposal preparation.
Consult on design and submission of grant and contract proposals from state, federal, local, and other government agencies.
Oversee pre-award grants management, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university policies. Review and approve solicitations and proposal requests. Interpret funding rules and regulations. Act as alternate Authorized Organization Representative under the Director of Sponsored Programs.
Assist the Director with post-award grants portfolio management, grant account management and audits, expense monitoring, and maintaining a comprehensive grants calendar.
Assist the Faculty Development Committee, Provost, and Director with internal grants to faculty.
Represent the University in relation to federal, state, and other government agencies and on committees within Academic Affairs.
Collaborate with other units in designing workshops and strategies to promote faculty grant seeking.
Maintain personal professional development through membership in NCURA and other relevant professional societies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; master’s strongly preferred. CPRA, CFRA, or CRA preferred.
Three years of grant-related experience in sponsored programs/research administration in a university or related non‑for‑profit setting.
Knowledge of academic programs, faculty needs, scholarly research, grant proposal writing, state and federal compliance regulations (Uniform Guidance), human subjects and animal research regulations, budget development and administration, and computer applications (Microsoft Office, etc.).
Critical skills: ability to respond to trends in grant administration, excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, ability to articulate the case for support, planning, organizing, supervising, evaluating work, working collaboratively with teams, motivating individuals, overseeing discretionary funding, and preparing effective written informational and educational materials.
