Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs, Academic Affairs
University of Tampa (UTampa) seeks applications for the position of Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs. The Assistant Director will coordinate pre‑ and post‑award activity to stimulate grant proposals and manage post‑award compliance and fiscal management. Responsibilities
Stimulate grant activity among faculty by fostering knowledge of opportunities and assisting in preparing proposals. Consult with faculty on the design and submission of grant and contract proposals for external sponsorship from state, federal, local and other government agencies. Oversee the pre‑award grants management process ensuring all proposals comply with federal, state and University policies and regulations; review and approve solicitations and proposal requests; interpret funding rules, regulations and procedures relative to proposal submissions. Assume the role of alternate Authorized Organization Representative under the direction of the Director of Sponsored Programs. Assist the Director with overseeing a portfolio of post‑award grants and managing grant accounts. Monitor grants to ensure expenses are paid according to government regulations within budget limits and timelines. Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar to identify and track funding deadlines, reporting requirements and next steps. Represent the University in relation to federal, state and other government agencies and serve on academic committees. Collaborate with other units to design workshops and strategies to promote faculty grant seeking. Maintain a strong personal professional development program through membership in the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) and other relevant professional societies. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree strongly preferred. CPRA, CFRA or CRA preferred. Three years of grant‑related experience in sponsored programs/research administration in a university or related not‑for‑profit setting. Knowledge of academic programs, faculty needs and scholarly research. Knowledge of grant proposal writing. Knowledge of state and federal compliance regulations including Uniform Guidance for federal awards. Knowledge of policies regarding the use of human subjects and animals for research. Knowledge of budget development and administration; computer applications (Microsoft Office, etc.); correct business writing with accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation. Ability to identify and respond to trends influencing government and other grant administration. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to articulate the case for support to secure funding; initiate, follow through, analyze, monitor, and evaluate sponsored programs activity. Planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; proven record of collaborative teamwork; positively motivating individuals to meet goals and objectives. Ability to oversee the expenditure of discretionary funding; prepare effective written informational and educational materials. Submission Guidelines
